Recently I got a Goldfinch Whistle. Yet not very long later the whistle cracked at the tuning point (the part without the 6 holes to play). Though My grandfather had "Fixed" it with E.V.O.O. "Extra virgin Olive Oil".
1) is using E.V.O.O. even good for the tin whistle? will it effect fine tuning it?
2) I don't really know how to fine tune the whistle in an exact D, any advice on how to do it? _________________ Jesse E. Coyle |

Hello there,
Oh, that's bad! This is the very first time we have ever encountered such an issue when the Goldfinch's tuning slide cracked. We often make them tight, so as not to make them vulnerable to becoming time-worn, but still durable. Could you tell us, how did it happen?
The most important thing is to keep the tuning slide tight and even enough so as to prevent the air from any leaking, thus changing the playing qualities. If "glued" evenly, there should be no serious effect on whistle's being "in tune".
Best,
